Zusammenfassung
Bei einer 62 Jahre alten Patientin wurden schwere hypoglykämische Anfälle durch ein
intrathorakales Neurofibrom verursacht. Nach Entfernung des Tumors traten in einem
Beobachtungszeitraum von 2œ Jahren keine hypoglykämischen Anfälle mehr auf, und der
Blutzucker lag — auch im Hungerversuch über 24 Stunden — im Bereich der Norm. Mit
dem Tumorextrakt konnte im Tierversuch keine blutzuckersenkende Wirkung nachgewiesen
werden. Die Art des Kausalzusammenhanges zwischen den extrapankreatischen Tumoren
und den Hypoglykämien ist bis heute nicht geklärt.
Summary
The case is reported of a 62-year old woman who had severe hypoglycaemic attacks caused
by an intrathoracic neurofibroma. Two and a half years after removal of the tumour,
the patient is still free of hypoglycaemic attacks and the blood-sugar level has remained
within normal limits, even after 24-hour starvation. No hypoglycaemic effect of the
tumour extract could be obtained in animal experiments. It is pointed out that the
causal relationship between extrapancreatic tumours and hypoglycaemia still remains
unsolved.

Accesos de hipoglicemia por tumor intratorácico
En una enferma de 62 años se produjeron graves accesos hipoglicémicos por un neurofibroma
intratorácico. Tras la extirpación del tumor no se presentaron más accesos de hipoglicemia
a lo largo de un período de observación de dos años y medio, y la glicemia se mantuvo
dentro de los límites de la normalidad aún en pruebas de ayuno de 24 horas. En experiencias
en el animal no pudo demostrarse acción hipoglicemiante alguna del extracto de tumor.
Hasta el momento no aparecen claras las relaciones de causa-efecto entre los tumores
extrapancreáticos y las hipoglicemias.
